In 2016 my Sister in law got married - one week after her Mum had lost her battle with leukaemia. I had created the wedding flowers using flowers from my cutting garden and her mum's garden. It was a special and emotional day. After the ceremony I was standing with my sister in law and a butterfly came to flutter around us and landed on the bouquet. It felt like Mum was with us...
Once the wedding images came back, I knew I wanted to recreate the bridal bouquet with a butterfly as a keepsake, capturing that memory for her. So I set about learning embroidery...
It was such a beautiful thing to create, and to beable to recreate the bouquet in a different way. I did more embroidery over the next few years.
In 2020 when my wedding business stopped due to covid I started my embroidery business in the hopes of keeping me busy during this period but also giving me a creative outlet over the winter period when weddings slow down.
I love the creativity to work with different stitches and colours to reproduce the tones and textures of the bouquet, capturing the natural beauty of your bouquet. I work from images of your bouquet, stitching on to linen fabric with cotton threads. Each piece can take 10 to 20 hours to complete but I find it a joyful and mindful process.
