I've recently got into making tea cosies, started with one for myself for my work teapot, made a couple on request for a friend, I then found I couldn’t stop so here I am with a folksy shop!
I saw this lime green yarn and it just screamed ‘cactus’ to me. I wanted the ridges to be more pronounced so tripled the yarn to work with it. This had the added benefit of extra pot insulation.

Full description
Novelty tea cosy crocheted in acrylic DK yarn tripled for thickness.
This cactus style cosy with cactus flower on the top is a perfect gift for someone who loves tea and exotic plants or maybe has a spiky personality
I made it to fit a medium sized 4-6 cup teapot, Price & Kensington brand to be specific but does also fit the other generic teapots in my large arsenal of spouty ceramics I use as models for my woolly wonders.
There is a hole at the front for the spout and a flap at the back with button closure to allow for the handle
Will it keep your tea hot?
It jolly well should! Although only a DK yarn, I’ve worked it using three strands and it is quite thick. I couldn’t say how long it will keep your teapot hot for as I haven’t done any scientific testing, just personal use of a single strand thin cosy which lasts up to 40-50mins because it never takes me any longer than that to polish off a full pot by myself!
It can be washed by hand. For my own personal ones I only spot wash the tea stains under a tap with a dot of washing-up liquid. Never had a problem doing that. Be wary of the soft spikes when washing as any rubbing may cause them to come away. After washing, let dry naturally, you should be able to fluff up the spikes by GENTLY tugging with your fingers.
PLEASE NOTE, LISTING IS FOR THE TEA COSY ONLY TO FIT YOUR OWN 4-6 CUP (2 pint/1.2 litre) TEAPOT
Will post using Royal Mail Tracked 48.
