Hand felted needle case
Victoria Padgett Artist£10.00
I’m a mature, self-taught textile artist whose creative roots stretch back to childhood, when I first learned to knit, hand sew, and run a sewing machine—skills later shaped by a night class in dressmaking and years of making practical things for family, from curtains to children’s play costumes.
When I turned 40, I gifted myself something precious: time. Time to learn quilting at a local shop, where I found joy in the craft and community in the people.
During the pandemic, whilst working in the NHS, I discovered textile art, thread stitching, slow stitching and a whole host of other creative techniques through online classes—opening a whole new world that’s been inspiring my hands and heart ever since.
I continue to explore texture in all its forms, mainly through fabric, wool, fibre, and playful mixed media. Nature is my greatest muse—landscapes, seascapes, woodlands, and especially big skies. I find joy in the small details, often stopping to photograph or sketch the curve of a dry stone wall or the colours in a cluster of beach rocks. Colour shifts my mood, guides my hands, and shapes every piece I create.
I hope my work brings you a sense of joy, an appreciation for the handmade, and a glimpse into the inspiration woven into each stitch.
