Step into my imagination

I was born in Derbyshire, UK.
From an early age, art was imbedded in my soul. Walt Disney’s wonderful cartoon films were the biggest influence on me. When I was in Junior school, an art teacher encouraged my creativity and how to apply it across various subject matters. Those basic early lessons proved useful as my mature illustration skills developed.

At the beginning of my working life, advertising was my first venture working in a local studio with an eclectic mix of clients, but the desire to illustrate what I call the ‘fun side’ of art came a little later. I attended two art colleges at one point, but their methods didn’t offer what I wanted, so I enrolled with The Famous Artists Course, an American correspondence tutorial course, established in 1948 in Connecticut. One of its founders was the celebrated Norman Rockwell. This really lit my creative spark.

The course gave me a solid structure and soon freelance work through art agents followed, leading to the development of a varied portfolio. After a while however, I decided to pursue my own path and represent myself, to give me control over my work. An opportunity came to carry out assignments for the fantasy world, leading to paperback cover designs, sci-fi in particular. This was enormous fun, testing my imagination to its fullest extent.

Apart from illustration, I paint in all the major media, but would not describe myself as a gallery artist. I occasionally exhibit just to display my other fine-art abilities whenever a suitable occasion arises. Building on that, I decided to create
The Creative Tube Gallery, showcasing original paintings at an affordable price, starting in the UK. Works for this section of the site will appear from September 2025, operating in conjunction with the fun side of The Creative Tube publishing programme.

Bringing everything up to date now, this Folksy launch shows two signed, open edition prints for the first time. These really illustrate the fun concepts which I enjoy creating.

The Creative Tube mantra:
‘TO EVERYONE WHO POSSESSES AN ADVENTUROUS SPIRIT, YOUNG OR OLD, WELCOME TO OUR DOMAIN WHERE WE HOPE YOU’LL STAY AND
PLAY FOREVER.’

Thank you for viewing.
