Before I founded MopTop, I often found myself purchasing generic gifts for friends and family. While they were nice, they lacked that special touch and seemed somewhat repetitive. Despite spending considerable time scouring shops, I couldn't shake the feeling that my gifts were uninspired.
The turning point came when I attended my best friend's baby shower and realised two other friends had bought the exact same gift as mine. That moment sparked a determination to create gifts and decor that were both heartfelt and distinctive, leading to the birth of MopTop.
Initially, I worried about the pricing of my creations due to the use of high-quality materials. However, feedback from gift recipients, who were moved to tears by the thoughtfulness of their gifts, reassured me that I was on the right path.
Driven by a desire to offer unique, quality gifts to deserving individuals of all ages in the UK, I encountered challenges along the way. Sourcing materials proved difficult, and potential customers questioned the value despite the meticulous selection process I employed.
To overcome these hurdles, I introduced initiatives such as a 'try before you buy' option and incentivised hosting 'MopTop Gift Parties.' These efforts gradually gained traction, leading to increased visibility at events like baby showers and Hen parties.
Tragically, I experienced the loss of a dear friend to cancer during this journey. Despite her passing, her spirit inspired me to continue creating meaningful gifts that bring joy to others.
Despite the challenges, we launched our first products to an overwhelmingly positive response. And through it all, I take pride in knowing that MopTop has become a testament to love and creativity—something that would make my friend proud.
On a personal note, MopTop is named after my daughter Mollie, affectionately called 'Mop Top' due to her distinctive hairstyle since childhood. This name holds a special significance, embodying the essence of uniqueness and charm that we aim to deliver through our creations.
