The Crafts with Design​
"Design is about the enhancement of the quality of living." This is the first thing I learnt when I was in the design school. This is the best thing I have learnt.
It doesn't matter whether it's being called art or design but as an object to be used, it shall serve the purpose of enhancing the user's living standard. This principle applies to both the functional and emotional aspects of the items while we develop our products.

Sustainability
MaakMaak has always aimed to be run as an environmentally responsible brand. Ceramic is although considered an environmentally friendly material, we always believe more can be done. We achieve this not limited to packaging but everything, measures have been taken place to further limit the impact on our environment. From product direction to function, from production to transportation.

Eco Raw Material
All clay we use comes from local suppliers to limit the carbon footprint of transportation.

Eco Production
By dropping the more productive and time-saving mass production method, pottery throwing, we minimized the water and energy consumption during production. Together with the specially designed clay trap, wasted clay is separated from used water, reclaimed and becomes useful products.
Through the careful selection of materials and schedule of firing, we in particular minimise the use of energy for pottery firing.

Eco Packaging
Even though we understand it is way easier to sell a product if it has grand and eye-catching packaging, we spend our energy on the design of the actual item itself and the simple, functional and appealing packaging if necessary. To further cut waste, digital user instructions were provided.
To balance the benefit of our customers and the waste that might be caused by having our items safely delivered to our customers, the bubble wrap we use is made from recycled plastic and is 100% recyclable.

Eco Transportation
A standard dispatch schedule is used. We aim at minimising the carbon footprint of transportation by dispatching products in groups when possible.
