From broken to beautiful—mosaics with story and soul.

My muse begged me to make her beautiful. She watched as I transformed porcelain cats, and a motley assortment of jugs rescued from charity shops. She gritted her teeth as I sliced mugs, vintage cups, and teapots into halves. She has inspired me, and her words often appear in my mosaic work. Some thought-provoking. Some humorous.

I am retired and live near the Essex coast with a bossy pooch, called Poppy, I've lived my life in the art community as a freelance pet portrait artist. When craft fairs began, I became a craft stallholder, and an event organiser, and enjoyed working as an art and craft tutor in adult education for many years, and more recently, leading U3A craft groups.

So, when did I begin to mosaic? When I retired, I fancied a new challenge having dabbled with papercrafts, collage, batik, silk painting, and marbling. A mosaic course at the local adult education centre caught my eye, and I became hooked by the end of the first session. I have explored traditional techniques, creating wall panels and objet d'art that cover my walls, and pack my shelves.

These days I’m less mobile and can't attend craft events, so here I am on Folksy and also determined to infiltrate social media and share my work with others.
