Horn of Plenty Mushroom scu...

Anyone who loves foraging for mushrooms will know the satisfaction of finding a perfect bolete in the woods or coming across a St George's mushroom in a field. I am in love with all things mycelium; eating, foraging, reading about and looking at fungi! The first clay mushroom I created was a present for a friend, and I realised as the mushroom shape was forming in my hands, how completely unique and specific individual mushrooms are. I've become fascinated by our ability to know when a particular mushroom looks 'right' - the right colour or curve of the cap, the right thickness or twist of the stem - it's easy to become obsessed!
I use air drying clay to create approximately life-sized mushroom sculptures, focusing on UK varieties. I mix the paint up individually for each mushroom. Each one is a slightly different shape and colour. I want to bring the forager's enjoyment of mushrooms into these individual sculptures to create beautiful collections that reflect the special appeal mushrooms can have on those who love them.
I am a graduate of London's Slade School of Art, and a professional artist and illustrator, living in Brighton. I hope you enjoy these pieces as much as I love making them.
Look out for my Christmas ornaments available around the festive season!
