Handmade ceramic mug

Hello! My name's Kaya, and I'm a potter from Wiltshire. I've been making pots for 8 years now, and I also teach in a local studio in Bradford-On-Avon called CeramicSpace.
I firmly believe that it's not about the brand of tea you drink, but the mug that you drink it from that makes the biggest difference! I like to work on making things that are both super functional and also fun to look at. Lots of my mugs have references to film and media, because I watch too much TV, and I love things that make me laugh. Looking on the bright and the silly side is one of my best skills!
All of my work is hand made by me, I throw the mugs on a potter's wheel and then use a variety of slips, stamps, underglazes and glazes to decorate them. As every piece is handmde there is variation in finish and sometimes colour - no 2 mugs will ever be identical. This, to me, is what makes handmade items extra special, and I pride myself on making sure my work looks hand crafted instead of machine made!
The lettering (which is one of my favourite things to do because it is so satisfying) is done using vintage lead type pressed into the clay, and then filled with underglaze after its first firing. As it's all done individually, I can write anything you could possibly dream of on a mug, and if you're interested in a custom order don't hesistate to reach out and arrange something with me!
