Hello and welcome to my shop! My name is Jo and I create hand-painted watercolour bird cards near the River Crouch in Essex at Franks + Feather.

From setting up a Christmas card making 'factory' with my mum when I was a child, I have always loved making little keepsakes to hopefully spread a little cheer. I think handmade cards have a charm and meaning which mass-produced ones can never match, making the recipient feel extra special!

Unable to find many greeting cards when I lived in Barcelona, I decided to create a little collection of my own when I wanted to send a special message to friends and family. I think the vibrant, bright colours of Gaudí's nature-inspired architecture and instinctive style of Catalan artists such as Joan Miró have influenced the results.

I find playing around with watercolours whilst listening to the birds chatter away in my garden very therapeutic.
