For made to order items dispatch would usually be two weeks from placing the order, however should you need an item urgently please do contact me as I may be able to get it to you sooner.

Hello, I am Nicola and I’m the face behind Handmade In Hythe.

Hythe is set on the beautiful south Kent coast and I have lived here for most of my life. I live a couple of minutes walk from the beach which, with its shingle, sometimes crashing waves, gorgeous skies and plethora of seagulls, often inspires my work.

Since taking early retirement from Primary School Headship, I have reignited my passion for crafting. I dabble in all sorts, indeed I am a compulsive crafter and regularly fall down a ‘creative crush’ rabbit hole! However, sewing is and always will be, my first love…be it the precision of patchwork and hand turned appliqué, the satisfaction of making bags and zip pouches, or just losing myself in creating a picture from fabric and stitches. With the arrival of my first grandchild I have also started making baby clothes and accessories, indulging my love of delicate Liberty Tana Lawn prints, to create adorable little pieces.

Everything is handmade by myself and I take pride in ensuring quality in both the fabrics I use and the finish I give the pieces I make. I am also a very reluctant ‘thrower away’ of fabric scraps and therefore keen to use every last cm of fabric. If I can to prevent unnecessary waste, I will!
