Hi there!

I'm Ellen, a self depreciating, nature loving introvert who needed to find a way to get some creativity back into her life! I started pyrography (burning designs into wood with a hot metal stick) when everyone around me seemed to decide to have children all at the same time and I had to find lots of personal, unique presents that wouldn't bankrupt me. Cue homemade, wooden keepsake boxes for the newest nearest and dearest!

6 years and many burns later, Gum Nut Designs was born. I've developed a love for the whole hands on process of working with live edge wooden boards; from drying, chopping to size, to the final design burning into life. I work from our home with my husband and Kelpie chucking in encouragement along the way.

Each design is hand drawn onto the wood by me, using a pyrography burning pen. Each drawing and piece of wood is unique, with it's own qwerks, flaws and beauty. I hope you love them as much as I enjoy making them!
