After completing a degree in Illustration, I was informed I had to "get a proper job" (I won't name names) and started work in the civil service. This wasn't all bad, as it's where I met my now husband, but the joke was on them, as I was medically retired at 28. What followed next was 12 surgeries in 15 years, and a big blackhole of depression. I had tried numerous hobbies here and there, but nothing that stuck, until I stumbled upon air dry foam clay, about 3 years ago. This wonderful stuff is made from corn starch, so is biodegradable, after roughly 5 years or so, and is prone to melt when wet. Which coupled with a crippling fear of failure, stopped me from exploring the medium further. Then in January 2025, I had the strongest urge to go back to my abandoned supply of clay, and thought I'll just mess about, and use up what I have. This lead me to discover there was now a varnish available that seals the clay, extending the life of finished pieces considerably. And thus my mojo was reawakened! I can safely say this has been my most productive and prolonged period of productivity since I don't know when, maybe ever. And so, you find me here, with the hope that someone may feel inclined to buy my creations, but if not, at least I have all future birthday and Christmas gifts covered, for friends and family.
When not creating favorite TV characters or 3D pet portraits for gifts (please see Instagram account my_imaginarium42), from my Magic Lab (aka my Conservatory), I like to listen to who the clay tells me is waiting within, and share those characters with you, here.
Thank you.
P.S I also have 2 cats.
