About Cherrybellprint

Cherrybellprint

I make original wood block relief prints inspired by nature on paper and fabric.

I love the process of printmaking. The different skills and knowledge involved as you turn your imagination into something that can be reproduced. For me it is a never-ending journey of learning, technique and creativity.

My inspiration comes from the world that I walk through every day, the changing seasons and the changing light. I am captivated by the texture and pattern as the sunlight passes through the summer leaves or the weaving dances of a tree’s branches laid bare in the winter. The drama of a wave reaching the shore or crashing into a groyne at the water’s edge. It is the beautiful rhythms of nature as the seasons turn.

I build most of my work through photos taken while on my daily walks with my dog on the beach at Boscombe, or further afield exploring the Dorset countryside and beyond. I try to capture the atmosphere and sense of the moment through drawing in pencil or ink directly onto the woodblocks before cutting and printing.

I started my artistic journey long ago, as a designer then painter before starting to make prints 15 years ago. I have exhibited my prints in group shows over the years and most recently at the Dorchester Gallery and Museum as part of the Dorset open 2025.
