Here's a bit about my work and me!
My work is colourful and bright because I believe that in order to have a happy life we need to surround ourselves with objects that bring us joy and nothing brings me more joy than surrounding myself with colour.
I Presently make wall hangings, bowls and plates, often in a family group of three. All my pieces however are unique and will not be repeated (unless you break one and need a replacement). My pieces have my own mark and are numbered and logged. I make my pieces by slab building, pinching and coiling.
I'm lucky enough to live in beautiful north Nottinghamshire right at the edge of Sherwood Forest and I work in a studio in 'The Dukeries' on the Welbeck Estate. I have two little dogs - Frida and Kahla. Yes I'm a HUGE Frida Kahlo fan. Not so much because of her work, more because of the incredible woman that she was. Another massive icon for me is Yayoi Kusama. If you know her work you will see how much she has influenced me. If you don't know her work give her a search - she's another WONDERFUL woman.
Like many people, finding Ceramic Art was a life changing experience for me. I was accepted onto a ceramic design course at Loughborough University College of Art and Design when I was 35. Like a lot of potters I think it has saved my life.
I love making pots and I would encourage anyone to find a class and have a go! I know you won't regret it
