Our lovely Folksy shop will be closing on Monday 1 November due to our retirement!
We have been slowing down over the last year and have now decided it’s time to take the plunge and move into new adventures.
We would like to say a big “Thank You” to all the wonderfully supportive Folksy staff, all the fabulous artists and crafters who have crossed our paths on our Folksy journey and all our wonderful customers!
Thank you all so much for your support - we have loved it!

Anne needed a plant support for her garden so attended a local workshop to make her own from willow – and there started a love of willow weaving. Rushwork came later, a fabulous material to gather from source, dry, store and then weave. Weaving is both creative and therapeutic, individual and communal, from working quietly in my workshop to communally gathering rushes in a way as old as history itself; to passing on these skills to young and old and seeing the excitement and delight of having created something beautiful for themselves. Weaving can be done with many materials but I choose willow and rush – sometimes crocosmia, iris and other materials found in my garden.
Alan is a keen photographer who was given his first film camera at age 15. Today his digital camera is a little more sophisticated and he likes nothing better than tramping the Cornwall and Devon moors and coastline with his camera by his side. He has now started to offer limited edition prints of his favourite photographs - and also one-to-one workshops using his experience from 30+ years of teaching .
Our home is full of crafted pieces, both beautiful and practical. Willow and rush baskets – for sewing and knitting, kitchen and bathroom, garden supports and baskets for so many different needs. Handcrafted items made from natural, raw materials are practical, tactile and simply beautiful.
Slowly, as Alan has developed his photographic skills, his prints are hung on our walls, filling bland spaces with colour and memories of our favourite land- and seascapes.
Browse through our carefully created collections for items both practical and purely decorative, for gifts for others and for yourself.
