Amulets and aromatics handcrafted from locally sourced and recycled materials and charged under the moon

Hello and welcome to Luna Tactae, formerly known as Caledonian Keepsakes.

I'm Laura, or Lu. As well as silversmith and general maker, I am neurodiverse mother and home educator to two neurodiverse teenagers. Home ed is a relatively new pursuit for us, and along with several health issues within the family, including a worsening of my own fibromyalgia type condition, time and energy for creating have been sparse recently. Now we have found our feet, I have decided to reinvent the business to fit better with our new norm.

Sustainability and the use of local materials are still at the heart of my endeavour, along with a desire to create symbolic and meaningful items. Perfect for gifting to loved ones on special occasions from milestone birthdays and anniversaries to the commemoration of life events such as graduation, birth of a child, recovery or bereavement.

Luna Tactae roughly translates to 'touched by the moon' and I have chosen this name to reflect a new commitment to charge all of my items under the moon after smudging with sage so that they come to you ready to be programmed with your own intentions.

While I intend to provide you with items constructed of locally sourced materials, and have begun to process ethically collected Scottish stone, I do have many gemstones that I have acquired from numerous sources across the decades, that I may use up along the way. I will always provide information on the origins of my materials where possible.

I have moved away from the typical sources of gemstone because of the nature of the process, usually involving destruction of large areas of the environment in order to produce a small amount of gem quality material. Personally, I love all minerals, not just the clear and sparkly parts, and appreciate their beauty as part of our Earth. So, going forward, I aim to use natural stone, respectfully collected from the surface with little disturbance or waste.

The aromatic side of Luna Tactae is a new endeavour, allowing me to explore my love of nature and folklore all the more, and giving me an alternative medium to work with on the occasions where my hands are unable to cope with the finer side of jewellery making.

All of the botanicals used are foraged from our own garden, those of friends and family, or on nature walks. Always responsibly and sustainably, leaving plenty behind for nature.

Each item comes with handmade packaging including a booklet about the meanings and associations of the materials used.
