About The Garden Room

The Garden Room

This is where the magic happens - According to some of my students!

I am a passionate quilter, crafter and fabric collector!

I have been quilting and crafting for about 17 years, prior to that I worked in IT as a development project manager (How do you get from IT to quilting, sewing and crafting? Go Figure!) Even more strange is that when at school I was “invited” to leave to needlework class in favour of the art class.

My studio is in my garden and is my pride and joy. As I sew almost every day this is where you will find me along with my 2 little dogs who are my constant shadow. I also teach patchwork, quilting and crafting from here and have an adjoining room that houses my longarm quilting machine.

As I hate waste I keep all my pieces of left over fabric and wadding and use them to make small items that I sell at craft fairs, such as washable face pads and card wallets. If I still have fabric after this I will pass it on to other crafters who use it to make cards, crumb quilts and the like.

Everything I make can be washed in the washing machine at 40 degrees, tumble dried on a low heat and ironed (if you must, I like my quilts to have a crinkly look).
