Tabby's Crafts - Wood Turning.

Hi, I’m Craig, but I like to go by Tabby. I'm a wood-turning enthusiast creating handmade bowls, vases, pots, and more at a community workshop.

Wood-turning is a relatively new passion of mine, but creativity has always been part of who I am. As a kid, I loved making things with whatever I could find around the house — it helped me relax and feel grounded. After school, I looked for opportunities to train in woodwork or metalwork, but I struggled to find anywhere that offered the kind of hands-on experience I was hoping for. Despite my enthusiasm, the right opportunity just didn’t seem to exist at the time, and I had to explore other paths instead.

In 2024, I discovered Men in Sheds – a fantastic charity supporting mental well-being through hands-on work like woodworking. Through them, I found a local workshop run by another great charity, Spen Shed. It was exactly what I needed. The space, the tools, and the supportive community gave me the chance to learn, create, and find focus again. That’s where I first stepped up to the lathe, and I haven’t looked back since.

Now, I spend my time shaping wood into unique, functional pieces that reflect both my growth and love for the craft. I work with a variety of woods, each with its own grain and character — no two items are ever quite the same. Every time I make something new, I learn something — a better technique, a new idea — and I carry that into the next piece. It means every creation is part of a journey to improve and grow.

I take care to finish each item by hand, so it’s not just beautiful, but also made to last. Whether it’s a thoughtful gift or something special for your own home, I hope you find something here that speaks to you — something one-of-a-kind and made with love.
