My business was named after my beautiful rescue cat Lucky, who I affectionately nicknamed Lucky Bug. She was my constant companion and followed me around like my shadow. It was the idea of making her a little blanket to curl up on that inspired me to learn to crochet back in 2016. I’m self taught and carefully create all of my products at my home in a small village in Derbyshire.
I’ve always been fascinated by colour and love to experiment with different shades and tones to create the perfect colour palette for each of my makes. Inspiration comes from all sorts of things including the changing seasons and the natural world and also which colours I’m drawn to depending on my mood. I feel a real sense of satisfaction turning plain balls of yarn into something unique that can be not only useful, but also a treasured keepsake.
I became self employed full time in 2017 after bravely choosing to leave my long term career with the NHS. I was keen to have a happier and more creative job, so at first sold handmade cards at local craft fairs and here on Folksy. I’m now very proud to be running my own small crochet business full time.
