I have been painting for over 25 years, studied art for several years but I feel I am mainly self taught.
I paint landscapes and surreal portraits, occasionally animals and still life.
The portraits are created from a stream-of- consciousness drawing most often, or a re-working of a smaller sketch. I then gesso this and work directly on the paper, currently with oil paint. I also work in any medium, acrylic, watercolour, gouache, etc. I'm inspired by the human condition, relationship with nature, surrealism, juxtaposition, otherworldliness, mystery and beauty.
The landscapes are inspired by photos I take on the Isle of Wight, Lake District and New Forest. I'm really inspired by trees, woodland and striking light and dark or unusual compositions. I mainly work in oil or acrylic, sometimes watercolour, gouache, ink or charcoal.

True to photo but the black ink signature is too strong and draws the eye to this immediately, going to frame it and cover the signature, sorry!
