Mixed media collages made with remnants, broken jewellery, spare buttons and other bits and pieces

Hi I'm Jo and I make sustainable mixed media collages.

To help fill the days during the covid-19 lockdown I started to explore my creative instincts, completing a number of online art classes.

I've always admired mixed media art work, and this interest was once again sparked from a tissue paper collage taster course.

So one day I raided my craft stash and gave it a go. My focus is to use up bits that I already own, or am given by friends and neighbours, so apart from the frames I don't buy any of the materials, they're already in my house!

Sometimes those items inspire the design, so a big black button inspired a yellow poppy, other times I come up with an idea and raid the stash to see what I can use.

Making collages in this way means they are all different - so some have similar themes but no two are ever the same,

Crafting is my mindfulness, I can get completely lost in it, forgetting all of life's worries and the to do list. So to come out at the end with a piece of art that makes someone else smile is a win win.

Initially I was selling on the US version of Folksy but I've recently moved to Folksy. I also sell collages in Happy Glaze Ceramics in Epsom, Surrey. Many of my buyers purchase collages as celebratory gifts, others buy them as gifts for themselves.
