All of the jewellery pieces in this Folksy shop are handmade by myself in a lovely, shed studio in my back garden.
The handmade jewellery I make is inspired by nature, the coastline of my home Island of Mersea, meaningful words and the joy of simplicity.
Handmade in recycled sterling silver, recycled gold, sterling silver, copper, 14ct gold filled, and occasionally brass. Semi-precious stones, precious stones and beads are also featured in my work.

I have always had a love of jewellery and sparkly things ever since I was a child. Whenever I stayed at my mum's parents I would almost immediately go through my Nanna's boxes of jewellery from the 50's, 60's and 70s. Throughout my childhood and young adulthood I had been making beaded jewellery as a hobby.
Along the same time I had a keen interest in all aspects of art and design, which led me to take up art and design at college and then a three dimensional multi disciplinary design degree course at Buckinghamshire Chilterns university college.
After leaving university I decided to take up silver smithing, and my Dad had offered me the back garden shed as a studio. After a year or so of teaching myself the basics of working with silver I started to sell my jewellery to local shops and galleries. A year later I started to sell on Folksy.
My style of jewellery is largely influenced by nature, art, colour and words. I have a deep fondness for birds and plants. My parents used to run a PYO and plant nursery, so I had been surrounded by different forms of nature. My first shed studio is home to many spiders, blue tits at one side of the shed walls, and above the door one of my robins who I would occasionally find looking for insects inside the shed. The new shed studio is much more warmer, still home to blue tits and robins.
My handmade jewellery comes from a range of inspirations, minimalist art, simplicity, plants, birds, shorelines and found objects. As I live on an island the beach and sea are increasingly becoming inspirations in the jewellery that I make.
I mostly work with sterling silver, fine silver and recycled silver as well as gold, brass and copper. Semi-precious stones, gemstones and found objects are also used in my work.

The bracelet is absolutely beautiful and so delicately made. Helen was incredibly kind and helpful, guiding me through the process of personalising it in memory of my cat, Pepper. I was able to have not only her name engraved on the front, but also the inscription “some angels have paws” on the inside. It was all finished with a little heart and tiny paw printssuch thoughtful touches. This bracelet is truly a stunning keepsake and a perfect way to remember my precious little fur baby.
