I have taken the last few months off from woodturning to concentrate on my botanical water colour work a few examples of which you can view on my Instagram account. However, I have picked up the chisels again and will be adding new items and old favourites. Apart from exceptionally large pieces my items are delivered free of charge by Royal Mail, second class.

I have been working with wood and metals from a very early age. This was quite unlike my professional life as an electrical engineer. In my more youthful years I designed and made items of furniture as well as a bit of boatbuilding and this continued right through until my retirement. At this point I decided to downsize a little and concentrated on antique furniture restoration and took up wood turning once again. My small and very dusty workshop was converted from two adjoining pigsties. Wood turning is now my main focus. Being left handed is not the ideal attribute for a wood turner since lathes are primarily designed for right handed people but I like to think that I have overcome this obstacle. I like to use a variety of timbers and concentrate on the form of the pieces to produce original and elegant pieces that would grace both the modern and traditional home. To quote William Morris "Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful." This is an adage that I think is often sadly neglected in todays world.
I hope the items that I make reflect this ideal but you, my audience, would be a much better judge.

Absolutely gorgeous pair of bud vases. The wood grain really is as pronounced and as stunning as in the pictures. And they even have glass containers inside so I can put real flowers in them! Totally exceeded my expectations.
