In the heart of the village of Stamford Bridge near York, Carrie Lyall Printmaker creates limited edition linocuts capturing moments in time. From bees sipping nectar from sunflowers, favourite places on the Yorkshire coast, or a stroll through the streets of York, each meticulously carved on lino and printed using locally sourced inks from Hawthorn Printmakers.
Carrie says "I am lucky to live in such a beautiful location, with access to a wealth of inspiration close by". Carrie's style is contemporary with a modern, yet classic feel, and many of her prints are based on photographs she's taken, like a walk on Whitby North Beach on New Year’s Day.
As well as lino, Carrie Lyall Printmaker, enjoyed other forms of printmaking, such as etching using tetrapaks. This is a more sustainable form of etching that doesn't involve any harmful liquids, and gives new life to something you would usually throw away.
