My actual name is Lucy and I began AdaBrown Designs in 2020, what a year to start!
The name Ada Brown is actually my Great Grandmothers. My love of embroidery came originally from the many tablecloths and napkins we owned, that had been created by her. Her designs were usually on a white background with a multitude of stitches and and colours of quite fine yarn, absolutely beautiful! Now I embroider onto lovely colourful linen fabric and not having the patience of my Grandmother use 4ply cotton yarn
I am inspired by colour, I only have to see a lovely piece of linen or ball of yarn with a colour that catches my eye and I want to embroider with them. I work in my lovely, super sunny conservatory which ranges from a messy, yarn and fabric filled design space when I am at the beginning of a design to a serene and calm environment when I am stitching up my final test pieces. At this time I sit down on the sofa, listen to an audio book (usually a family drama but Harry Potter ha been known to creep in) and relax into the rythm of some simple stitching.
I am bursting with ideas to bring to my shop, moving forward I plan to create cushion kits and further soft furnishing ideas as well as bringing further wall art designs.
