This brooch is 30mm square. It is soldered to a 20mm brooch bar that secures with a rotating safety catch.
I have built up layers of transparent enamel over the copper base, then added a layer of dark blue. I have then scattered small pieces of turquoise enamel rod and bright red enamel rod on the dark blue and generated the pattern you see by drawing a steel tip through the enamel while it was red hot, in the kiln. The copper base is not fully covered by the coloured enamels and may also be exposed by the action of the steel tip, so shows golden brown in the pattern. The various colours are all red hot at this stage and that factor and the imminent setting of the enamel as it cools introduces an element of randomness and therefore individuality to the finished piece.
Your brooch will be sent boxed, as shown, by Royal Mail tracked 48.
